Happy Haitian Education

Meet the founders

Ernso Sylvain is a driven entrepreneur who understands that education is the key to a better future. A powerhouse, Ernso is currently CEO of Happy Haitian Productions Institute, (or HHP). Ernso believes that communities grow because of the people who support them. He continues to be directly involved with organizations like Nourish Every Child, Optimists International, Unlocking Communities, Watts of Love and LAFF. We are thrilled to build upon our partnership with Ernso. His title on our board is Vice President.

Desirée Lee is a creative and resourceful individual who feels most fulfilled in giving back with a goal to help others reach their truest potential. She is committed to breaking the cycle of education, especially the one that plagues Haiti. On the forefront of her agenda is bringing computer literacy to Hinche. More than ever, we have seen the positive effects of remote work, and she feels compelled to bring jobs to Hinche where the community desperately needs and wants change. Desirée is driven and hungry to learn with others and an aptitude for leveraging partnerships in various communities. In the future, Desirée hopes to leverage these endeavors on a new platform: VR for EdTech. Her title on the board is President.

School Partnerships

Remote Readers Program

In addition to classes, we offer a Remote Readers program which allows for peer to peer conversation, correction, active listening and many more benefits. Here our students can connect with students abroad, deepening their comprehension and sense of individualism by sharing cultures, values, and more. We want our students to have the means to successfully build a brighter, happier future ultimately overcoming the economic stagnation within the Haitian community through technology. More than ever, remote work is increasingly promising and we feel we can bridge the gap between non-internet and computer users and digital opportunities.

Our students enjoy conversing with English speakers, throwing student talent shows and learning about technology.

Mardi Gras Bingo Nite

The goal of this fundraiser is to help sponsor students and teachers alike, bringing awareness to our school and connect with potential partners for future funding and events. Flyers with information about students and teachers are provided with specific QR code for each. Money is raised through bingo card and food sales to further support student tuition and teacher salaries. We hope to inspire other students, programs and organizations to support HHE through various ways.

Adopt a goat

55% of food in Haiti is imported, so livestock is essential for communities. The Adopt a Goat program was created by the French Honor Society of Cambridge High School in Georgia, USA, and allows contributors to “adopt” and name a goat for one of our student’s families.

Informal Partnerships

Informal partnerships are highly regarded and we view each of them with importance no matter if they are in country or otherwise. If you are interested in joining forces with us please don’t hesitate to ask. Currently, we are specifically seeking partnerships in tech.

Soapbox

Soapbox is an organization that gives back when you purchase their products in the form of a donation and an education in hygiene. Local communities are benefited and those in need are provided for.

Nourish Every Child

Nourish Every Child sponsors many of the younger students that join for our Summer Camp. They understand the importance of generous acts regardless of size. We have had up to 350 children attend our camp from June through August where they could enjoy recreational activities, one meal a day and English classes.

Unlocking Communities

Unlocking Communities is an organization that equips entrepreneurs with resources to aid in bringing about safe, potable water for everyone. Not only does UC help equip low income communities but they do so by selling affordable and sustainable water filtration systems.

Watts of Love

Watts of Love helps aids those in need of lighting. Providing solar lights serves a significant impact on the community by freeing up money spent on kerosene and instead families can save for other basic necessities such as education.

Relief Projects

Project Soap

On behalf of Unlocking Communities and SoapBox, our students learned how to make soap and earned money while doing so. Within 6 months, seven of our students produced 50 gallons of soap for our new school that was under construction at the time.

Project Masks

During Covid, we produced and distributed 2,220 masks to each of our partners and locals within the community.  Nourish Every Child: 720 Haiti CPR: 200 Unlocking Communities: 500 Watts of Love: 800
